Privacy policy

We collect your owner account details, your pets' profiles and photos, the preferences you set for each mode, messages you send in matches, reports and blocks. PLACEHOLDER: full data inventory, legal bases and retention periods to be written by counsel.

We show an area and an approximate distance. We do not show a home address, precise coordinates or a live location. You choose your area manually. We ask for device location only when needed and only with your consent.

Pet passports and health documents are private by default. They are stored apart from profile photos and only you can see them. Nothing is shared unless you select a specific file for a specific match. You can revoke future access. Revoking cannot remove copies the other person has already downloaded or screenshots they have taken.

Uploads are scanned, and photo location metadata is removed. PLACEHOLDER: confirm this is live before launch.

Messages are not end-to-end encrypted, and we do not claim that they are. Messages can be read by the systems that deliver and store them.

You can report or block any profile or chat. A block stops discovery, messages and document sharing with that person. When you report, we keep the reported content and its context under our retention policy so we can act on it. PLACEHOLDER: retention period.

PetMate is for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly allow younger users to create accounts.
